Background

“Unclipping wings of the Imagination”

Founded in 2010, Writers International Network Zimbabwe (WIN), a writers’ association, is the brainchild of creative writer, poet, and literary journalist Tapureta. WIN came after thorough consultations with local and international experienced Zimbabwean writers who endorsed its formation. On February 6, 2010, at the Theatre In The Park, Harare, the writers and various stakeholders in Zimbabwean literature met to officially celebrate the birth of WIN with a collective goal of building and developing new writers as well as creating synergies between local and international writers. WIN was then registered with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, and its founding Board consisted of Josephine Sithole-Muganiwa (Chairperson), Edwin Mhandu, Phillip Chidavaenzi, Christopher Mlalazi, Tinashe Mushakavanhu, Sarudzayi Barnes, Ivor Hartmann, Emmanuel Sigauke and the late Julius Chingono.
